Currently, we have 6-8 weekly segments and can only have two groups filming their segments. With additional camcorders, we can have most of the groups filming at one time. Some of our weekly segments include: district updates, hallway trivia, holidays, high school and professional sports, and student-created skits. This will help our students put out the finished weekly news show on time. Eventually, we would like to film sporting events, school plays and assemblies, band and choir concerts. However, without the extra camcorders, we cannot film after-school events. Students will be able to sign out the camcorders in order to obtain footage that is not accessible during the school day. Throughout this class, students are learning how to plan, edit and produce a weekly news show. Who knows, they might find out this is what they want to do for a career.
