My students love being able to have a hands-on experience in our music classroom! They also love the opportunity to play instruments during our concerts. The materials we are requesting would allow us to accomplish both! We currently have some instruments available for our students, but many are in desperate need of repair. For example, we are requesting new mallets, as some of our mallets have broken over time due to normal wear and tear. Our students would be thrilled to have a gathering drum, as it allows multiple students to play it at the same time! The rhythms sticks are used for myriad of activities in our music classroom. The cabasa, guiro, maracas, claves, finger cymbals, and bells would be used quite often in our concert performances. With additional instruments added to our music classroom, we can give students the chance to play these instruments during class time and performances. This allows them to continue to build their musical skills and knowledge, while also giving them a boost in confidence when given the opportunity to play for a performance!
