I teach in a very diverse middle school in Atlanta, Georgia. We have students of various nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. Our school serves a complete spectrum of students, from children in self-contained special education classes to gifted students in accelerated courses. Our school works hard to meet the needs of every child.
One disadvantage that our building has is not enough technology to have all students accessing it on a regular basis. We currently have over 1400 students. Even with computer labs on every floor, it is not possible for teachers in all four core subjects to give students the access to technology they need.
I teach social studies to a gifted population. My students want to not just master the given curriculum, but delve deeper and go farther. We need technology to help us go beyond the four walls of the classroom.
