This year I have implemented flexible seating in my classroom. Students no longer sit at traditional desks and chairs. The alternative seating allows the students to be comfortable and focused. While the seating options give the students comfort and freedom of choice, we currently lack a space for collaboration. This is difficult, especially during math class.
These tables will allow the students to work together, share ideas, and problem solve. Through the use of the markerboard tabletop, students can increase their critical thinking skills by making their thinking visible, showing different ways to solve a problem, and collaborating to make modifications as necessary.
