My school is comprised of a diverse group of students, with varying levels of English. Our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch, qualifying our school as a Title 1 school. My class contains students who range from native-English speakers to Spanish speakers learning to become proficient in English. We are a small school and have many teacher held fundraisers in order to raise money for our own field trips. Community involvement is strong and the parents are always willing to contribute their time. Students are interested in books that they can relate to. I think I have done just that. Our area is economically strained and there is just not enough for some of the necessities we would like to have in our diverse classroom.
