I absolutely love teaching kindergarten! I feel like it's what I was meant to do. My Kindergarteners and I develop a special one-of-a-kind community. Feeling secure, safe and respected in our class allows for learning to take place. I started an awesome adventure in 2011! As I was grocery shopping for our classroom bunny, Mr. Chubbles (the weekly veggie-run) I thought to myself "How awesome would it be if my students grew veggies FOR him?"... So I did my research, got admins approval, received grant funds, designed my ideal garden and in January 2012 Koa's Growing Kinder-Garden was officially built. We began growing and I saw my students flourish! Then I thought, well, this doesn't need to stop at my class or the kinder-grade, why not make it school-wide? This way every student will learn that they can be self-reliant, develop team building skills, respect, responsibility, health/nutrition, and so much more! : )
