My students are extremely eager to learn and they have been working very hard to learn how to read. We have listened to many, many read alouds to establish a love of reading and stories. We have also worked together in small groups and as a whole class to learn letters and sounds, segmenting and blending, and now we have begun practicing and developing these skills in real books.
These decodable books will allow them opportunities to put into practice all of the skills they are learning in small groups, while giving them confidence and a love of reading! The best way to become a fluent reader is to read and these books will provide material that is appropriate for each student in my classroom. While also allowing them to explore their interests in both fiction and nonfiction.
Reading is the key to their learning both now and in their future, and I am determined to ensure that every one of my students have the skills they need to be readers for life! Thank you for reading my project and I hope that you will consider helping us reach our goals.
