I would like to provide and offer my students the chance to do some hands-on learning, exploring, and gaming using career and college ready skills and by pushing "STEM" education into my day to day science lessons through the use of iPads. This will allow my students to extend their senses using slow motion cameras, time lapse photography, measurement and sensor software applications. Additionally, iPad technology will allows my student to simulate laboratory experiences, utilize 3-D interactive animations to model complex concepts, and document their learning using information sharing applications."
Since we do not have textbooks, the iPads would help allow me to bring science to them in the classroom through a vary of methods such as experiments, observations, videos, etc. The possibilities for my students are endless!
There are so many free apps for stem education that will help motivate and encourage my students to want to learn more about science. The students will use the iPads in small groups and stations by completing various tasks, becoming an expert in an area (sometimes assigned and sometimes he or she will choose), and videoing and posting the final product in Flipgrid. This will allow parents, students, and the community to see what the students are learning about it the classroom. This opportunity will not only impact this group of students but future students in my classroom as well. The goal is for all of my students to take ownership in his or her own learning by becoming more involved in the learning process.
