Most of my students have never read before coming to my class, and a few of my students are still struggling to find a book that takes them to another place. I teach remedial reading, which means that my students really struggle with reading, particularly with diction, structure, or general comprehension.
I have found that my students cling to graphic novels and devour them whole. The visuals help my kids with creating their “movies in their heads” and the structure aids in their general comprehension. Help my students continue to grow (or finally start to grow!) their love of reading by providing our classroom with some belovedly treasured graphic novels.
