Most of the students at my school are second language learners. English is not the primary language spoken in their homes. In addition, we are in a Title I school. This means that at least 87% of our population is on free or reduced lunch. The Pre-K students I work with either attend school for a full day or a half-day depending on the program they are enrolled. Many of the students that I serve in Pre-K receive special services for varying exceptionalities including autism and special learning needs. In many cases, this will be the only opportunity for my students to visit and checkout books from a library.
