My students would benefit from the instant cameras because they would be able to continue to experience the importance of having good character and be able to see their peers modeling that great character. As a part of our character education, we follow the 6 pillars of character on my campus (caring, respect, trustworthiness, citizenship, responsibility, and fairness). A student who is demonstrating any of these characteristics may be eligible to receive a positive referral from any staff member on campus. The staff member and I, the counselor, fill out the positive referral and announce the student and their great act of character for all the campus to hear on morning announcements. The student comes by to pick up their positive referral to show their parents and we also display it on our "Caught with Character" wall.
Your donation would allow our student leaders to take a photo of all Positive Referral recipients so that we may add it to the "Caught with Character" wall. This would allow their peers to read about as well as see the peer who went above and beyond in demonstrating one or more of the 6 pillars of character. This will not only enforce our 6 pillars of character but also encourage other students to show their best character every day!
