I believe that my students would greatly benefit from flexible seating that would allow movement in my classroom. According to a 2009 study published by the Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, students (especially those with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder) tend to move around when they are using working memory to solve problems. Movement also increases blood flow to the brain, enabling students to be more alert and to process more information throughout each lesson. Wiggle chairs would help to facilitate the learning process for my students by helping them to maintain focus through movement without being a distraction to others, greatly increasing the learning outcomes for all students in my classroom.
