My students participate in speech therapy through special education qualifying as a student with a speech and/or language disorder. My students have goals related to their disorder in speech (articulating sounds correctly) and language (independently expressing thoughts and ideas).
My school is a large elementary school (K-5th grade). There are over 1,000 students attending T. Clay Wood Elementary School. This is my 4th year teaching at this school.
Our students love working with technology. The school currently has pads (not for every student), but I am unable to purchase speech and language apps to use the pads with the students.
My goal is to work directly with the students and have them practice their goals while using technology. Doing this they will become more engaged in the therapy session and I hope to see greater carryover of skills in the classroom setting.
Our teachers work closely together collaborating and discussing students goals to achieve goals annually.
