The flexible seating options proposed in this project would allow students to move up and down, side to side, or just move their feet with a little resistance. These items would allow for students to move them to different places they are working around the building.
The swivel ball chair leans, bounces and spins 360 degrees for an active seating experience that encourages good posture, core muscle strength and may help increase concentration. It also helps promote better posture with a rubber-molded anti-skid base for use on all floor types. It offers the posture benefits of a yoga ball without the rolling. It helps promote movement by leaning, bouncing and swiveling. The active grow stool allows for students of all different heights to be able to sit comfortably. It adjusts from 17-24 inches and is made of a lightweight material, so it can easily be moved to where ever a student is working. These stools will allow students to better focus on reading a story, working through math problems, or studying geography all while putting a little extra movement in their day. While these stools will help with movement, they will also help with core strength and balance.
The chair bands are simple but extremely effective. By allowing a child to constantly move their legs while sitting they have an outlet for their energy and are able to increase their focus. The chair bands are a continuous loop that easily stretches around the two front legs of a school chair. They can be moved to another chair quickly and can be used over and over again. The items in this project would allow for ALL students to have a flexible seating option, not just a few.
