As we implement guided reading into our daily routine, these leveled reading materials in this project will benefit both the teacher and the students. When "guiding" students to read, you never know what strategies they are going to need assistance on. Therefore, it is important to have books on hand that can accommodate all levels of learners, they range from emergent readers to just above the first-grade level. If the books are readily available, the students will have increased opportunities to read text that is "just right." As well, such books with engaging stories offer differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all my students. The guided reading kit will be used during each lesson to work on specific skills students need to practice to become independent, successful readers!
