Comfy Floor Seats will serve two purposes in our classroom. First, they will give my students additional options for flexible seating during whole group work time. Second, they will allow students to choose a cozy spot to sit during small group time. Offering students choices on where to sit during work time, gives them a chance to find their best learning spot. In my classroom, flexible seating has helped with disruptive behaviors, and inattentiveness due to distracting neighbors. Currently, during whole group instruction students can choose to sit on the classroom floor, stand at a tall desk, or sit at their table spots in standard, metal chairs. During small group time, students sit on stools or the ground depending on the activity. The Comfy Floor Seats will offer my students choice spots to sit while they learn, making it easier for them to focus and reach their goals.
