All of my students are considered minorities and come from low income neighborhoods. Our school is a small school with only 400 students in total. They are highly motivated and curious about all aspects of life. However, they deal with violence and gang activity on a daily basis. For many, school is their only opportunity to escape their home lives. All my students have the capability to learn, they just need the support and time. For many of them, they will be the first in their families to graduate high school. Also, due to circumstances beyond their control a lot of them will not qualify for financial aide. Yet they do not give up, they know that their only opportunity to truly succeed in this world is with a good education. They deserve it.
