I teach in a public school in a famous city. Most of my students are poor and have very little materials to write with at home. For many of them, kindergarten is the first time they get to hold a pencil, a marker or even a crayon. Teaching children to write using proper form and spacing is a challenge when so many of them first have to be taught how to hold a pencil, crayon and/or marker properly.
