I teach 2nd grade at a low-income school. My school is located in an urban area where safety is often a concern. A lot of my students are from a low-income household. Over 90% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. They have a hard time wondering where their next meal is coming from. We work hard to overcome these obstacles. My students are hard-workers and they love to read. However, most of them are currently reading below grade level.
