Having flexible seating creates an environment for learning to feel safe and comfortable. You can choose to relax on a rug, sit on a stool, lounge on a futon, or choose a traditional chair. Everyone is happy, engaged in their work, and relaxed. This type of flexible seating is favorable for a variety of learners. Our world is ever-changing, and our classrooms must keep up. How can we expect our students to solve problems and make choices independently if we constantly solve their problems and make their choices for them?
Flexible seating opens up the classroom for collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. This simply cannot be done when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day.
