I teach STEM to two schools, Shady Brook and Forest Park Elementary. I see all students in the school the week that I am there. The students in my STEM classes are from a variety of homes and lifestyles. Over half of the student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch and many come from homes where English is not the primary language. My students are eager to learn, and love participating. What students do during class varies depending on the grade and what they are learning in their regular classrooms. Younger students get to explore through play at various STEM stations while the older students tackle engineering design challenges and complete scientific investigations.
