Our students live in an urban area of Kansas City, Kansas. In addition, most of our students live in low income areas. They come to school every day, and are ready to learn despite these circumstances. Many of our students love science because of the hands-on opportunities it provides. Our school is full of teachers who love these kids and families. We strive to make learning fun, yet applicable to their lives and futures.
We feel the Garden Club helps us give extra opportunities for education, specifically in the area of Earth Science, as well as many hands-on opportunities to work in the garden and cook with the food they have grown. By having students cook with the food they grow, they learn to make healthy choices in their lives.
