From the very first day of kindergarten, I teach my students that they are each responsible for their own learning. This year, I decided to give my students more freedom in choosing how they wanted to learn. Each day, students are given the opportunity to choose where they would like to work in our classroom. They are encouraged to choose anywhere in the room that they feel that they can do their best learning. When you enter our room, you will frequently find students laying on the floor, sitting at my desk, and even working under tables!
The sky is the limit in our room, and I am constantly trying to find new seating options for my students. Currently, I have three old kitchen stools in my room that I have painted to hide their age. These stools are frequently a favorite in my room! Students love them, and there are often students waiting for their turn to sit on our beloved stools. That's where you come in!
I've fallen in love with the idea of having wobble stools in my classroom. These stools will give students the opportunity to be productive while giving them the chance to 'get the wiggles out' throughout the day. Unlike our current stools, they are also small enough to sit at a standard table. Students would also be able to move them around the room, away from tables, if they desire. The possibilities with these amazing stools are endless!
