My students are brilliant. They have the desire to become avid writers and strive to do their best. My students rarely miss, because they look forward to what they will be writing about that day in ELA. My students are capable of reaching goals!
Over 75% of my students come from broken homes, are of poverty, or experiencing life obstacles. Our school is a low-income school where over 80% of our students are on welfare. I also have 4 students with Special Needs, who are more likely to succeed listening/watching/typing on the pc. Due to the requirements of a student with special needs, it is difficult to accommodate with limited technology. My students strive for success with the little that we do have in our classroom. They are the best in my eyes, because they give their best. But they deserve more!
Teachers using technology in their English language arts classrooms are not only improving their instruction for their students; they are changing the very nature of that instruction.
