A school counselor's office is a place where students can relax, express themselves, and be inspired.
I want to provide a variety of fun hands-on therapeutic counseling activities that pique students' interests, while helping them to set goals for themselves.
Fidget Tools such as desktop puzzles, stress balls and magnetic toys help students open up and communicate thoughts more effectively because they are able to manipulate something instead of focusing completely on the counselor. I buy stress balls in bulk so that students can keep them after the session. They are very helpful for channeling focus and controlling anxiety in the classroom.
Some students prefer to draw or write about their feelings, while others enjoy using their hands to make things. I buy journals in bulk to give to students so that they can write or draw in them anytime. Legos, Kinetic Sand, and Play-Doh allow students to express themselves through three-dimensional creations. I buy small containers of Play-Doh in bulk to give to teachers to use as a calming activity in class.
Games, puzzles, and brain teasers challenge students while helping to take their mind off of their problems. Games can also teach students alternative ways to handle situations. I have chosen a variety of games that deal with different topics to give students choices.
