My incoming first grade students would love to have a new gathering place. My students utilize the carpet area for morning meetings, a special place to share experiences, exchange greetings or to just relax while immersed in the joy of reading. During our morning meetings, we sort through social difficulties, celebrations, sing songs, review our calendar and talk about our daily schedule and our classroom goals. We focus on team activities which support inspirational character building through our school-wide program called True Success. Two essential components of this program that we are hoping to receive are the Full STEAM Ahead (science, technology, engineering, and math) carpet to gather on to enhance cross-curricular activities and book selections that support emotional growth with a character building mindset.
Our gathering place is a welcoming place whereas students feel nurtured and supported which in return will help to promote inviting discourse and empower critical thinking.
About my class
