Imagine opening a car door in the middle of summer. The hot air hits you before you even sit. Open windows provide little comfort. Now imagine you have to work from that car all day. My students' experience this daily during the first quarter of the school year.
Along with wearing masks at this unprecedented time and being in a historic building, temperatures in our classroom frequently register in the 90s the first few months. My Pre-K and Kindergarten children are eager to learn and excited when they come to school. Imagine seeing that enthusiasm diminish throughout the day as the heat begins to take its toll on their stamina. The basic need for comfort is essential throughout the entire school year to give my children the opportunity to focus and work to their fullest potential.
