More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education.
I teach at a low-income school. My students come from diverse backgrounds, but when they enter my classroom that is not a factor. Most of my students are on free or reduced lunch, they also have the opportunity of receiving free breakfast each morning. There are times where my students have come to school without the supplies they need. A lot of my students start the year off at a very low academic level due to many reasons. Despite all of these factors I always see a room full of smiles and students who are ready to learn. How can you not want the best education/materials for these students when they overcome such hard circumstances.
