The students in my class come from a lower social economic group and often do not have the opportunities to create and build or play with manipulative at home. They need these opportunities to develop socially and emotionally as they problem solve to build and create. Small Lego pieces help develop fine motor skills as well as problem-solving as they design and create buildings. Students learn to collaborate and work as a team when they build a train track to go around the log buildings.
Children need opportunities to collaborate in real-world situations. Building a project together builds community and works on problem-solving opportunities as there is always more than one way to do a project.
My students need kindergarten building materials to work on collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving. By donating Magna-Tiles, train set pieces, log builders, bristle blocks, and magnetic vehicles you are giving my students opportunities to work as a team, create, and build.
