My students spend much of their school day staring at a screen. With the abrupt shift to technology in order to provide remote, hybrid, and in-person instruction simultaneously, I witness the desire in my students to have a break from screens on a daily basis. I want to fuel their desire to break from screens and ignite a renewed passion for reading while simultaneously increasing their scientific literacy.
Unfortunately, my school media center doesn't have even a small collection of science-themed books, so I would like to obtain a variety that will grab their interests and keep them reading. By keeping the content focused on science, students can maintain an objective appreciation for the importance science in the world around them. My students will love getting their hands on an actual book and be able to put away their technology!
