I am a third year teacher teaching third grade at a Title I elementary school. More than 45 percent of the the students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. My school has been transforming into a PBIS school (positive behavior incentives and supports.) Students are highly recognized and rewarded for doing what we want them to do verses be punished for naughty behaviors. We take opportunities to re-teach the students correct behavior expectations when they are acting out, as we would reteach a student who didn't understand a math lesson. A classroom with behavior issues is not a healthy learning environment and I strive to have the best learning environment for my students.
