Have you ever had to sit through a long meeting and started to zone out because you weren't comfortable? Well, I know that I have and my students have as well!
Studies show that shorts periods of physical movement within the classroom lead to more on-task and focused behavior. With flexible seating options that encourage small physical movements, students can be physical while they learn. Students need an assortment of choices for seating. Giving students seating choices allows them to make responsible choices and take ownership over their learning.
We need wobble stools, yoga balls, wobble cushions and floor pillows to jump start our flexible seating classroom. Having these options will keep students more engaged and physically active throughout the day.
