As a first year Optional Enhanced Kindergarten (OEK) teacher, 85% of my instruction focuses on teaching foundational literacy skills to Kindergartners who are at-risk or below grade-level benchmarks. The remaining 15% of my instruction concentrates on solidifying Kindergarten math concepts. I currently have a goal for 95 percent of my Kindergarten students to complete their Kindergarten year performing on or above the end-of-the-year Kindergarten grade-level benchmarks. This goal will primarily be achieved by giving my students quality instruction in a fun-to-learn, loving, organized, and safe classroom environment and by engaging them in quality, effective educational resources.
Each of the literacy, math, and organizational products provided through this Fun-To-Learn Literacy Classroom Resources project will support my daily instruction and intense interventions needed for my students to engage in their learning and to achieve successful and on-or-above grade-level literacy and math learning outcomes at the end of their Kindergarten year. These products have been carefully selected and I am confident they will be extremely valuable in strengthening my students' literacy and math skills and will bridge their social, emotional, and academic learning gaps and delays significantly impacted by Covid.
Last week during one of our online learning days, one of my students told me she got Covid when she was three years old. This took me by surprise when I realized more than half of her life and early-childhood development has been impacted by ongoing isolations, lack of pre-school, in-person learning, and school absences brought on by Covid.
