From year to year, I don't know how many students I will have. I like to have enough copies of the novels that students can bring them back and forth from school to home. This way they can read some sections on their own for homework or use the book as a reference while doing their writing assignments.
Most students like to read from a book instead of online, and even my students who like audiobooks say that following along in the book helps them comprehend the reading better. We also read aloud in class together, so it's good for every student to have his or her own copy to read from.
The books get so much use, and my students really take very good care of them.
