Launching our Civil Rights Unit with engaging lessons about the brave leaders who paved the way for our freedom is a special time for my class. Continuing on with our third grade appropriate unit about the Holocaust is another time when my scholars are excited to come to our launch area for learning. At present time we do not have a carpet. Our class is a student led classroom which allows for kids to work in various spaces in the classroom. Having a large carpet would enhance my scholar’s enthusiasm to work on the floor. It is an ideal space for all of their collaborative learning and application. We have daily social emotional lessons as a whole group. This is a special time each day where we come together to share our feelings, triumphs and disappointments. This is where we bond and create a close knit family within our class community.
