I am a wildlife biologist who has been teaching science in a very rural and economically disadvantaged school district for the past 18 years. My students are from a 100 mile radius and represent all types of learners. Hands-on works best for my students. They love to be involved and active within the classroom. I allow them to take ownership of their learning and see how it works in real world applications. Our goal as a team is to develop critical thinking skills. The classroom is set up as an inviting space with extremely large plants, a beautiful fish tank, access to both a sink and gas for experiments and seats 25 comfortably.
