Kindergarten is full of many first experiences for students. It's their first time being away from their parents. It's the first time they meet a best friend. It's the first time they learn to read and write. My goal in Room 8 is to build a classroom that is rich in kindness, acceptance, and exploring.
One way that we explore is to read a variety of books together on our classroom rug. We are requesting a new easel which will allow all of my students to engage equally. This easel is mobile and will allow me to use it to hold big books, hang chart paper and pocket charts, and write creative stories together.
As they learn to read and write independently they will actively grow into their own scholarly identities. With this easel, I will be able to develop lessons that are engaging and relevant to my students. They will explore and develop a love of reading that will last through their years of education.
