I have created Math station activities that students can do independently or with a partner. The students will practice sorting, counting objects, numeral identification, addition and subtraction throughout the school year. I plan on keeping the activities in the classroom storage center. The students will be able to easily access the activities and return them to the appropriate place while I am working with a small group of children.
Station time provides opportunties to practice previously taught skills and build new skills while working with other students. The activities will be geared toward the varying skill level of students to provide each child the appropriate level of support and rigor. The students will also grow social skills, learn independence, and practice sharing.
