My students are learners and gamers! They love to engage in conversations about their experiences in the games - how they win, how they lose, and what they learned. The conversation skills that they demonstrate when talking about these games can be transferred to academic conversations about books that they love! In my classroom, I want to continue to build readers who are passionate about what they read. During partner talk, they will be able to share what they learned, what they found interesting, and book suggestions!
Books about video games are another opportunity in the classroom for them to grow as learners!
This selection of books will not only support their academic conversations, but will also fuel their love for reading. Given that we started the school year virtually, my students did not have the opportunity to read many physical books at home, which is why it is so important to get these books to the hands of our students! They want to read, especially about things they love like Minecraft and Roblox! The best way to increase their reading skills and academic conversations is to read more and these books will do just that!
