The students I work with are “at-promise” and they are asked to stay after school, come in before school, and/or Saturdays for tutorials and enrichment opportunities. Although they are allowed to bring food and snacks, not all of them are able to. There are stores and fast food places outside the school but most of our students rely on free lunch and cannot afford to purchase snacks to eat outside of the school day.
I would love to have a classroom pantry of snacks for my students to be able to have a snack while working on their academics rather than be hungry and unable to concentrate.
