In our classroom we work as scholars to become the best we can be. We are a low-income, public school in a rural community. Many students have a less than desirable home environment and yet still come to my classroom with positivity because they know they will be respected and that education is the key to making a better life for themselves. My students are hard-workers, eager-learners, and highly motivated individuals.
Being a change for good in their community and the world has become this class's motto. They have set academic and personal goals that are above and beyond the usual thinking for a fifth grader. As a teacher, my philosophy has always been student-centered; providing opportunities for creative thinking/learning and personal growth. My students are actively engaged in all lessons so that their minds can open up and reach their full potential. In our school district, 5th grade is the last year in elemen
