My students live in a low-income area in Southern Texas. The students in my school face challenges every day. These challenges include poverty, abuse, neglect, staying with other family members, or living in foster homes. When these children come to school they feel safer than they would at home. Most of them receive a free or reduced priced breakfast and lunch. Many of the students come in with low skills due to little parent involvement in their lives.
At our school we commit ourselves to creating a school that knows no limit to the academic success of each student. As a teacher, I believe in giving students the best education I can! We also take great pride in each student's well being in the school as well as at home. If we see that a child may need help with supplies, clothes or anything that cannot be provided at home we do our best to provide it for them. We participate in programs with churches and volunteers in order to help.
It takes a big heart to help shape little minds. ~Author Unknown
