First graders grow all the way from beginning to read in the fall to devouring chapter books by the end of the year. They go from using their fingers to add small numbers to automatically choosing a beneficial strategy to add two-digit numbers. Their learning styles and abilities vary greatly, which is why it is essential that their classroom is engaging, comfortable, and full of differentiated learning experiences. My students drool over engaging resources, but not as much as me!
