My elementary classroom is made up of twenty-seven energetic and enthusiastic fifth graders. They enjoy coming to school each day to learn in a safe and respectful environment. Despite, and maybe even because of their different backgrounds, the students in my classroom have come together to build their own "community" where they are all free to be themselves.
My students love hands-on, authentic learning. They enjoy doing science experiments and learning about history. They love to perform in front of a camera and share their projects with others. They work well together, especially on group projects.
Our recent group project involved space exploration. My students selected and researched a specific aspect of space exploration. They then used their research to write group skits that were informative and engaging. Students performed in front of a green screen and will be shown floating in space.
