I teach kindergarteners at a Title 1 school in a high poverty area where more than 60% of the students are on the free and reduced lunch program. 46% of students at my school site are English Language Learners and a considerable amount come from homeless families. Many students do not have access to books at home and limited art supplies. They would benefit from leveled readers, math and science manipulatives and opportunities to create individualized art.
