Providing my special education class of 6 students with flexible seating options gives them the opportunity to choose where they work day to day. Adding in the element of choice increases their comfort level and motivation. By giving students choices for where they can sit, their engagement, time spent on task, collaborative skills, and work quality levels will all improve. Students will be excited to get to work because they will be able to choose where they are sitting, therefore giving them more control over how they are learning.
Students learn best when they are in a comfortable environment that fits their needs.
