My students are 7 and 8 year old second graders who come to school hoping to do their very best and learn a lot. They have the potential to do very well in school with the right guidance and motivation. Many are severely below grade level in all subject areas. Regardless of their ability levels, they come to school with smiles on their faces, an eagerness to learn and hope that someone takes an interest in their ability to achieve. My classroom is diverse and most of my student receive free and reduce lunch services. I provide most of their daily school supplies. My school is in a low income area and despite the surroundings, we try to establish a sense of community and partnership. My school encourages parental support and some extra curricular activities for our students. I enjoy my class. They are fun loving second graders who just need the right guidance and instruction to meet with academic success.
