Having these hands-on, minds-on materials will help the students become lifelong readers and writers. If they have materials to touch, they are in control of their learning. Having the cards would be a fun way for them to see, touch, and interact with the materials. They can then retain their student-led learning and transfer that to other areas such as their reading and writing. They would also have a real-world application and recognize their newly learned words in print on things outside of the classroom. These foundational skills will follow them through their elementary, middle, high school careers and beyond.
