My kindergarten students love to work cooperatively throughout the day! Their favorite time of day is when we work at math or literacy stations. These activities help build not only academic skills but also language and social skills.
Students use manipulatives at stations that give them the chance to engage their whole brain in higher level thinking. The days of skill and drill worksheets and flash cards are over!
The stations, along with other activities throughout the day, are differentiated in order to meet the needs of all of our students. We have a wide range of learners in our classroom and have many students that are learning English as their second language. The focus of our inclusive classroom is on not only mastering the traditional academic standards, but also on developing vital social skills that they will need all throughout life.
