I teach at a Title I school in Virginia Beach. Our community has a high rate of transiency and poverty. Our students do not have access to technology, books and experiences that other students have. This year 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, which is a wonderful opportunity for them!
We have a couple of things that make our school unique! We only have Pre-K through 1st grade and we are a "Leader in Me" school. We have 3 Pre-K classes, 15 Kindergarten and 15 1st grade classes! With all the little ones, you would be amazed when you come in our building. They are learning more than just the curriculum. The "Leader in Me" is providing them an opportunity to become responsible and respectful citizens. They are learning they are in charge of their learning, behavior and attitude! Wow!
